Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” 1
I know you’ve been carrying a heavy weight lately, and it breaks my heart to see you struggling with the anxieties of the past, especially when it comes to your career. You’re such a bright, capable, and genuinely wonderful person. Your kindness and work ethic are truly admirable, and I want you to know that I see your potential, even when you might not see it yourself. It’s understandable to feel anxious when we look back and feel like we haven’t reached the milestones we envisioned. But remember, life isn’t a race, and your journey is uniquely yours.
One of the most powerful things we can do when we feel lost or overwhelmed is to seek guidance. This can come in many forms: professional advice, mentorship, or spiritual counsel. And, most importantly, turning to God, who knows your heart and your path better than anyone.
This verse reminds us that even when we feel lost or uncertain, God has a plan for us. A plan filled with hope, prosperity, and a future beyond our wildest dreams. Sometimes, that plan involves detours and challenges, but these are not meant to harm us, but to shape and strengthen us.
I remember a time in my own life, around your age, when I felt completely adrift. I had been working in a job that I thought was my “dream” for years, but I felt stagnant and unfulfilled. I was constantly comparing myself to my peers, who seemed to be climbing the career ladder with ease, while I felt stuck in place. The anxiety was crippling. I’d spend nights replaying past conversations, wondering if I had made the wrong choices, if I had missed opportunities.
I remember one particularly difficult evening. I was sitting in my living room, the city lights reflecting in the window, feeling utterly lost. I felt like I had wasted so much time, and that I was falling behind. The feeling was heavy, like a physical weight on my chest. I felt like I was failing at life. I felt insecure, and I felt that I wasn’t good enough. I felt like I was in a dark room, and I couldn’t find the light switch.
I was so caught up in my own thoughts and worries that I had forgotten the most important thing: I wasn’t alone. I had been trying to navigate my life on my own strength, forgetting to turn to God for guidance and support. It was in that moment of vulnerability that I realized I needed to let go of the control I thought I had, and trust in a higher power. It was in that moment that I chose to pray, and I chose to seek guidance. I chose to ask for help from a professional career counselor, and I chose to open my heart to God.
That night, I didn’t get a sudden answer or a magical solution. But I did find a sense of peace that I hadn’t felt in a long time. It was a gentle reminder that my worth wasn’t defined by my career achievements, and that God’s plan for me was far greater than anything I could imagine.
Just like me, you are not alone. And just like me, you can find peace and guidance by trusting in God and seeking support.
Let us take a moment now, and connect with God, who is always listening.
Remember, your journey is unique and beautiful. There is no timeline for success, and your worth is not defined by your career achievements. You are loved, capable, and destined for greatness. Embrace the present, trust in God, and allow yourself to grow and flourish. You are not alone. I’m here for you, always. And I believe in you, wholeheartedly.
